Ross Stewart urged to turn down Rangers transfer interest and STAY at Sunderland by ex-Man Utd star

Ross Stewart has been urged to STAY at Sunderland next season and turn down a move to Rangers.

The 25-year-old had a stunning season at the Stadium of Light as he helped fire the Black Cats to promotion to the English Championship via the play-offs.

The Scotland international netted 26 times last term and has been strongly linked with a move back to the Scottish Premiership with Rangers this summer.

However, former Manchester United and Sunderland hitman Louis Saha has urged him to reject the chance of a move and prove himself in the Championship so he can make a further step up to the English Premier League.

Speaking to BoyleSports Football Odds, Saha said: "Ross Stewart is on fire and he knows he's an attractive player for a club like Rangers and I think he could be swayed by a move there.

"I think that staying in the Championship is best because you'll then have that base to show that you can make the step up.

"I also think that when you want to improve as a player, stability at one club is best so I would suggest that Ross stays at Sunderland next season and waits for a move."
