Ross McCrorie shows Rangers allegiances as Aberdeen star turns back on Celtic guard of honour

Celtic walked out onto the Parkhead turf today with a guard of honour from Aberdeen's squad - though Ross McCrorie failed to join in as the former Rangers star gave a cold shoulder to Ange Postecoglou's side.

Celtic won the title at Hearts at the start of the month, and received a guard of honour from the Granite City side as a result of their title win. With Rangers failing to do so after the Hoops wrapped the title up at Tynecastle, the Dons lined up either side of the dugout as the champions strolled out to 60,000 applauding fans in the east end of Glasgow.

But McCrorie, who grew up in Rangers' academy and made 55 appearances for the Light Blues in a five-year spell spanning between 2016 and 2021, failed to join his Aberdeen teammates in the memo as he kept his hands firmly behind his back in an act of defiance.

McCrorie, whose brother Robby has recently become Rangers' first-choice goalkeeper, was snapped with his hands behind his back at Parkhead, footage from before the game saw most of the Aberdeen squad clapping the league winners out.

Fans noted that McCrorie and teammate Graeme Shinnie both failed to acknowledge the procession - McCrorie with his hands behind his back, and Shinnie with his hands on his waist.

The Hoops battered Robson’s side in a 5-0 win thereafter, with two braces from Kyogo and Oh sandwiching a Carl Starfelt strike.
