Dundee v Ross County postponed due to waterlogged pitch

Dundee have confirmed that today's Scottish Premiership match with Ross County has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

An inspection of the surface was conducted at 9.30am and it was determined the game could not go ahead.

Heavy rain has caused disruption across Scotland with the country's environment watchdog issuing a ‘danger to life’ warning amid a “major rainfall event”.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued more than two dozen flood alerts and flood warnings – the more serious category – with “relentless” rain predicted over the Southern Highlands and western Central Belt.

The fixture will be rescheduled to a later date. Dunfermline against Arbroath has been postponed in the Scottish Championship for the same reason.

While Elgin City v Stenhousemuir and Bonnyrigg Rose v East Fife have also fallen victim to the bad weather.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers thinks Derek McInnes should be in contention for the vacant managerial role at Rangers.

The two men meet later today at Parkhead as the Celtic boss gears up for his 700th game as a manager.

McInnes has been one of the names linked with the role after Michael Beale was sacked following Rangers' recent 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen and Rodgers is not surprised at the speculation.

When asked if McInness should be considered for the job, he responded: " I have said it before – I think he is someone who I am sure would be in contention for the position.

"He has history there at the club, but also he has experience and qualities as a manager.”
