Celtic have been credited with an interest in signing Chelsea outcast Ross Barkley.
The English midfielder is looking to leave Stamford Bridge before the September 1 transfer window deadline in search of regular game time. Barkley failed to even win a squad number with the Blues this season. He was punted out on loan to Aston Villa last season and his time at Chelsea appears to be at an end, with the 28-year-old having just one year left on his Blues contract.
Now Celtic are the latest club to be touted as a potential suitor for the England 33-cap star, according to journalist Simon Phillip who told GIVEMESPORT the 28-year-old has a whole host of clubs who are interested in signing him this summer. The transfer insider stated: “With Ross Barkley, he’s got a lot of other clubs interested in him at the moment so it’s not just Everton. He’s got Brighton, Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa and Celtic. So got plenty of options to go to.”
Ange Postecoglou' s side have already made seven signings this summer but with Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton moving on at the end of the last campaign, space has opened up for another midfield option.
Rogic provided an impressive return of six goals and six assists in 32 Scottish Premiership outings which is something that Celtic will be keen replace in the team.
Although Everton are said to be favourites to land a reunion with Barkley with the Toffees believed to be in 'advanced talks' with the 28-year-old. Barkley currently earns £100,000 per week in west London but only made six Premier League appearances under Thomas Tuchel last season.
