Rosie O'Donnell mocked Anne Heche before car accident which left her in coma

Rosie O’Donnell has said she “feels bad” for making fun of Anne Heche before the horrific car accident that left her in a coma.

The 60-year-old comic mocked the Donnie Brasco actress following her quirky interview with Barbara Walters back in 2001.

Anne is currently in a critical condition and is thought to have suffered severe burns after her car crashed into a house in LA last Friday.

Taking to TikTok, Rosie told her two million followers: “I can’t stop thinking about this Anne Heche accident and how horrifying the whole thing is.

“And feeling bad that I made fun of her when she was talking to Barbara Walters about having a relationship with space aliens.”

“If we have an honest discussion about drink driving, we find out just how prevalent is it and that’s terrifying, isn’t it?” she continued, implying Anne may have been under the influence at the time, which police suspect.

The Flintstones star continued: “I wonder if she’s OK. I think it’s a miracle she didn’t kill anyone... and I hope she survives.

“But wow, what a tragic tale. That car was on fire for a long time, they say. They couldn’t pull her out. That’s a hard sentence to give yourself, you know.”

Urging her followers to seek help if they are struggling with alcohol, Rosie pleaded: “Listen, Alcoholics Anonymous works, it does. I’ve seen miracles happen, you know.

“So if you’re out there and you’re struggling and you’re thinking ‘I don’t know if I can do this’, try it before it’s too late.”

She added: “Try it when you’re already at your lowest, don’t wait for that to be your bottom.”

During the 2001 interview with Barbara Walters, Anne claimed she created a “fantasy world” and a second personality called Celestia who had superpowers after she was sexually abused by her father as a child.

At the time, she said: “I was raised in a crazy family and it took 31 years to get the crazy out of me.

“I had a fantasy world that I escaped to. I called my other personality Celestia. I believed I was from that world. I believed I was from another planet. I think I was insane.”

Rosie later mocked Anne’s comments during an appearance at a comedy club the following year.

“What the hell kind of train wreck was that?” the comedian reportedly asked the crowd, before referencing Anne’s former relationship with Ellen DeGeneres.

“She couldn’t just say, ‘I was a lesbian for two years, it didn’t work out for me?’”

Anne slipped into a coma shortly after the car accident in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles on Friday, her spokesperson confirmed.

The 53-year-old’s Mini Cooper engulfed into flames after crashing into a two-storey home. Luckily no one else was injured in the tragedy.

“Shortly after the accident, Anne became unconscious, slipping into a coma and is in critical condition,” a spokesperson told the PA news agency.

“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention.”
