Rory McIlroy net worth as he targets another bumper payday at US Open

Rory McIlory is targeting another bumper payday as he goes into the final round of the US Open three shots off the lead.

The Hollywood native shot a third round 73 after a shaky start in Brookline, which leaves him in contention going into the last day of the major.

Victory for McIlroy would see him add to this net worth, which is estimated to be around €200million, with the winner taking home over €3million.

Matt Fitzpatrick shares the lead heading into the final round of the year’s third major with American Will Zalatoris, a shot ahead of defending champion Jon Rahm.

World number one Scottie Scheffler, Keegan Bradley and Adam Hadwin are two shots off the pace at the Country Club.

McIlroy has previously won the US Open, Open Championship and two PGA Championships, with the last of those victories coming in 2014.

And he came into this week's tournament high on confidence after winning the Canadian Open last weekend.

Two of the first people to congratulate him on the victory were his wife Erica Stoll and their baby daughter Poppy, who turns two at the end of August.

The couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in April after tying the knot at Ashford Castle in County Mayo in 2017.

Erica is from New York and previously was a former PGA of America employee.

The pair met for the first time in 2012 when McIlroy was competing at the Ryder Cup in Medinah.

McIlroy was late for his tee time when Erica came to his rescue. As a PGA employee, she was in charge of finding the golfers who had overslept or misjudged the time.

Despite Erica's heroics, the couple didn't begin dating until 2015, when McIlroy decided to call off his engagement to Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki.

The couple had just sent out their wedding invitations when he decided he wasn’t ready for marriage.

In 2015, McIlroy planned a romantic proposal to Erica in Paris in December.

The couple had their wedding at the stunning five-star Ashford Castle in Cong, Co. Mayo, in April 2017.

Many celebrity friends turned up for the event, including Niall Horan and Coldplay's Chris Martin.

To top it all off, music legend Stevie Wonder and pop sensation Ed Sheeran also performed at the wedding.

McIlroy has described his wife as a ‘great influence’ and a ‘low-key person’ that brings a ‘calming presence’ to his life.

The pro golfer currently lives full time in the US with his family, far away from where he was raised in Hollywood, Co. Down.

The golf star has established himself as one of the greatest golfers of all time and is estimated to be worth almost €192 million.

McIlroy purchased a luxury mansion in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, in 2012 for a whopping $10 million.

The home spans over an impressive 12,800 square feet and has seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms.

It also has a stunning pool, cinema and games room perfect for relaxing after some stressful tournaments.
