Bookies have slashed the odds on a major victory for Rory McIlroy in 2023 after he won the Dubai Desert Classic.
Ladbrokes are now offering odds of just 2/1 on a first win since 2014 in any of golf's most prestigious tournaments, The Masters, U.S Open, British Open and PGA Championship. McIllroy's last major victory was at the PGA nine years ago.
The Down man has been in scintillating form over the past year and has notched up a number of tournament wins including The Fed-Ex Cup and CJ Cup. He also narrowly missed out on winning The Masters and finished just two shots behind Cameron Smith at The British Open.

Ladbrokes are also offering odds of 50/1 for the Holywood native to finish in the top-5 of all majors this year. He's odds on to make the cut at all at 4/7.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: "Rory McIlroy sealed his Dubai Desert Classic victory in thrilling fashion today and after holding his nerve against his nemesis Patrick Reed, punters believe he can return to winning Majors this year."
The first major of the year is The Masters at Augusta which begins on April 6.
