Rory Kavanagh pulls out of the running for Donegal job as candidates continue to dwindle

DONEGAL are facing a real crisis as it has emerged that Rory Kavanagh isn't interested in becoming their new senior football manager.

Kavanagh had been expected to take the reins once St Eunan's interest in the Donegal championship ended.

Their campaign finished last weekend with a county final defeat to Naomh Conaill and there were reports that Kavanagh would be unveiled as Declan Bonner's successor this week.

But that won't be the case, and it seems that Kavanagh has indicated that the time isn't right for him to go into intercounty management.

It leaves Donegal with no obvious alternatives - and the League is only a couple of months away.

Former Fermanagh and Monaghan boss Malachy O'Rourke was tipped as an early favourite but he made it clear he wasn't interested.
