Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson and his wife, Sandra Stefan, were flown to hospital suffering burns in a gas explosion in the Hunter Valley on Monday night.
Paramedics said they had treated the Sydney couple, who had been visiting the property owned by former NSW Rugby League boss John Quayle, for burns to Ms Stefan's arms, face and hair and Mr Robinson's arms and leg sustained when gas from a barbecue ignited.
Mr Quayle and his wife, Diane, offered first aid as emergency services arrived around 9.30pm on October 7 and assessed the couple at the scene before they were flown to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
Ms Stefan was kept overnight, while Mr Robinson spent two nights in hospital this week, but Mr Quayle said they have both since returned home to Sydney, where they are convalescing. The former Eastern Suburbs great expressed his gratitude for the paramedics and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter's critical care providers who rushed to the scene to help.
A hospital spokesperson confirmed on Thursday evening that the couple had been discharged.
Mr Quayle established his Hunter Valley presence in 1996, purchasing two old Hunter River frontage dairy farms on Dalswinton Road, Denman. He launched his Hunter Valley chardonnay in November 2017, made from grapes grown on his Winbirra Estate.
