Rising talent Zak Best is set to make his solo Supercars debut after Tickford Racing announced he'll compete as a wildcard entry at Darwin and Tailem Bend later this year.
The 20-year-old Benalla product currently leads the Super2 development series after picking up the round win at the season-opening event at Sydney Motorsport Park in March.
Tickford have announced the team will race a fifth Ford Mustang with Best behind the wheel at Darwin Triple Crown in June and again at the The Bend SuperSprint event in July.
Best will then co-drive one of the four full-time Tickford entries at the Bathurst 1000 in October.
Having joined Tickford as a Super2 driver last year, Best made his Supercars debut as a co-driver with Jack Le Brocq at last year's Bathurst 1000, finishing 15th in the endurance classic at Mount Panorama.
"It's really cool to take this step with Tickford Racing and I'm looking forward to getting out there and having a crack," Best said.
"I grew up watching a lot of the current drivers racing Supercars, so it'll be pretty special to share the track and race against those same guys at Darwin and The Bend.
"Obviously the goal will be to just do the best I can, so I'm training hard and preparing in the best way I can to make sure I'm ready to go, I can't wait."
Best will return to the track at next week's Perth SuperNight event at Wanneroo Raceway, with the Super2 holding its second round of the season in support to the Supercars.
