Rookie Ed Ingram reportedly doesn’t appear close to signing with Vikings

There are three rookies in total that have yet to sign their rookie contracts with the Minnesota Vikings, but according to the Pioneer Press’ Chris Tomasson, one of those players doesn’t appear to even be close to a deal.

That player is second-round draft pick Ed Ingram.

The offensive lineman out of LSU was expected to help fill an immediate need for the Vikings at the shaky guard position.

Granted, veterans Jesse Davis and Chris Reed have been taking the majority of the starting snaps during the spring practices, but it’s clear the team is hopeful Ingram can provide some future stability at one of the team’s biggest trouble spots.

“It doesn’t sound as if Vikings second-round pick Ed Ingram, a guard from LSU, is close yet to signing his contract,” Tomasson posted on social media. “He’s participating in spring drills under an injury protection agreement.”

Cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. and receiver Akayleb Evans are the only other rookies that have yet to sign their contracts.

Both have also been participating in spring practices under an injury protection agreement. However, as of right now, the chances of them actually reaching a deal sooner rather than later appears to be more promising than Ingram’s situation.

The specifics surrounding the hold-up aren’t known right now. So we’ll refrain from speculating. The good news is the Vikings have a security blanket at right guard with Davis and Reed to hopefully avoid a repeat of last season’s catastrophe.
