Plans have been submitted for a rooftop restaurant and 14 flats in part of a plastic surgery hospital in Sefton.
The proposal, for the New Birkdale Clinic in Prem House on Park Road, Waterloo, is aimed at making use of now-redundant space brought about by changes to plastic surgery care, according to documents submitted to Sefton Council last week.
As part of an application for change of use, the applicant said the former first floor hospital wing is longer in use due to changes in the length of stay patients require following plastic surgery.

While a private health clinic on the ground floor and part of the first floor would be retained for hospital use, the plans are for the western wing of the first floor to be converted to eight one-bedroom apartments.
The plans also include a rooftop extension to the second floor which would create space for six more one-bedroom apartments and a 50-cover restaurant, as well as parking and amenity spaces.
According to a design and access statement submitted as part of the application, the rooftop restaurant would “maximise the views” in the local area, through the use of glass in its construction.
A noise assessment has also been submitted, which recommends measures to mitigate from some of the extra noise that would be created by the development. The internal noise levels would be within “appropriate levels” given the plans submitted, according to the assessment.
The building, which is a former DVLA offices dating from the 1960s, was converted into a hospital over 20 years ago. It is located on the edge of the Waterloo Park conservation area and overlooks the listed Waterloo United Free Church.
The application is currently open for comments before planning officers consider the next steps.
