Ronnie O'Sullivan warned Michael van Gerwen 'I'm coming for you' - as he joked about swapping the green baize for the darts oche.
The Rocket, a seven-time world champion, is the greatest snooker player of all time and is arguably the most naturally gifted talent to ever lift a cue.
'MVG', meanwhile, is one of the most successful darts players of his generation and is targeting a fourth World Darts Championship as the showpiece gets underway at the iconic Alexandra Palace later this month.
O'Sullivan has previously claimed that he would have been more suited to being the king of the oche rather than the snooker table, as he would thrive in the lively atmosphere at the big darts events.
And the 46-year-old has now weighed in on the perennial debate concerning the comparable difficulty of a nine-darter and a 147 - the two hardest feats to achieve in each sport. O'Sullivan is in awe of the unwavering accuracy of the elite darts stars, but claimed he is now improving himself after a lesson at his local pub.
"I don't know," O'Sullivan said when quizzed on the nine-darter and 147. "I'm terrible at darts so I'm flabbergasted at how they keep peppering treble 20s and doubles and all that.
"Mind you I did have a darts lesson the other day from someone at my local pub and he got me knowing when to release a dart and they were going near the treble. I thought 'you know what - I'm getting on the darts tour mate! Forget the snooker tour, I'm coming for you Van Gerwen!"
Van Gerwen starts his hunt for his fourth world title on December 21 against the winner of Niels Zonneveld vs Lewy Williams. But O'Sullivan, a formerly avid darts fan, is not as gripped by the sport with 16-time world champion Phil 'the Power' Taylor no longer competing at the highest level.
“Tell Phil to get his darts back out, we miss him!" O'Sullivan said. "I don’t watch it now that Phil is not playing, I used to watch it all the time when he was there.
“Some people like watching anyone throw darts – and I suppose some people like to watch certain players. Phil Taylor was one of those who even if you weren’t a darts fan, you would want to watch him."
