Ronan Keating running 100km this June as part of cancer fundraiser on 25th anniversary of mam's death

Ronan Keating and other Irish celebs will put on their running shoes this summer to raise money for the Marie Keating Foundation.

The star will be taking to the track as part of a new charity challenge on the 25th anniversary of Marie's death from breast cancer. The celeb will run 100 kilometres over the space of 30 days this June, alongside his wife Storm and other family members.

Famous faces such as Dancing with the Stars Arthur Gourounlian and Today FM broadcaster Dara Quilty will also take up the challenge this summer. All proceeds will go towards treating breast cancer in Ireland.

Ronan said of the campaign: "The Marie Keating Foundation are very grateful to be the chosen charity for the 2023 100k in 30 Days challenge, and we will do all we can to make this the best year yet. We lost Mum 25 years ago when she was just 51 - her cancer was one of the most curable forms of breast cancer, but unfortunately she didn't know enough about it."

The Boyzone singer is stressing the importance of early detection as part of the fundraiser. The '100k in 30 days' campaign was first launched in 2020 and has raised over €4 million to date for breast cancer services in Ireland.

The charitable initiative helped build a new clinical trial centre in the Breast Centre in Beaumont Hospital. Organisers are encouraging everyone across Ireland to get involved with the June event.

Registration for the fundraiser opens today. People can sign up or donate to the campaign online.
