Ronaldo takes in Tottenham vs Wolves and watches Harry Kane break Premier League record

Legendary Brazilian forward Ronaldo Nazario was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday as Spurs edged past Wolverhampton Wanderers to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

The former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan striker was pictured during BT Sport’s coverage of the game soaking up the atmosphere in north London. Whilst the game itself was not a thriller, the now 45-year-old will have been satisfied to have seen one of the game’s standout forwards at the current time, Harry Kane, get on the scoresheet.

The England forward reacted first to an Ivan Perisic flick-on from a corner to open the scoring in the second-half - a goal that proved to be enough to claim the three points. Kane’s strike also saw him achieve another big milestone in a Spurs shirt.

It represented his 250th goal in all for Spurs and his 185th in the Premier League - the most for one club, nearest challenger Sergio Aguero now one behind.

Intriguingly, Kane will have been honoured to note that he was being watched by Ronaldo throughout the game having selected him as his dream strike partner in the past.

Asked by ESPN in 2018, the Tottenham striker replied: “Brazilian Ronaldo. His ability, his all-round game was incredible. He had everything: pace, power, finishing, skills, passing.

“I didn’t get to watch a lot of him of TV growing up but when I’ve watched YouTube and highlights of clips from the past, I’d have loved to have played alongside him.”

Some will of course be wondering why Ronaldo was pictured in north London with the Brazilian having represented neither Spurs nor Wolves throughout his career. However, according to football.london, he attended the game as a guest of sportswear giants Nike.

The American giants apparently have their own private box at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium having penned a 15-year deal to provide the club’s official kit.

Whilst Ronaldo will have been thrilled to have seen Kane find the back of the net in north London, he was also able to watch a number of his compatriots in action.

Emerson Royal started at right-wingback for Spurs, with summer signing Richarlison being introduced from the bench during the second-period. The former Everton striker had a couple of chances to get his name on the scoresheet but fired his opportunities wide.

He is still to score his first goal - and indeed start his first game - for Spurs since his switch from Goodison Park and will be hoping for another opportunity as his side aim to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground next weekend.
