Brazil and Barcelona icon Ronaldinho is set to make a drastic return to the Catalonia region - with his son Joao Mendes set to join the famous La Masia academy.
Lionel Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas - the list goes on in terms of top talents that have graduated from Barcelona's academy to become world stars. Ronaldinho will know that all too well; he won five accolades with the Blaugrana playing alongside the aforementioned stars.
And he is set to see more action at the world's most famous youth system after he confirmed that Joao Mendes had passed a successful trial in January, potentially following in his father's footsteps. "Yes he is coming now," Ronaldinho told Marca.
"I'm never out of the club. Barcelona is part of life. Wherever I go I take Barcelona with me. With the arrival of my son at Barca I'll be more present than ever."
Though Ronaldinho was a silky winger, his son is a natural striker. Mendes is thought to have initially failed to impress La Maria bosses, though he ramped up his talents in the final stages.
He impressed enough to secure a contract at the La Liga leaders following his release from Brazilian side Cruzeiro. With Ronaldinho acting as an ambassador for the club, his strong relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta seems to have become even stronger.
