Ronaldinho offers Mohamed Salah transfer advice amid Liverpool contract stalemate

Ronaldinho has told Mohamed Salah to do whatever will make him happy while admitting he wishes could have played with the Liverpool star during his career.

The Egypt international will enter the final year of his contract at Anfield next season but there has been little leeway made her a new deal so far. The forward is keen to be rewarded for his jaw-dropping form over the past four years at the club.

However, Liverpool have been reluctant to meet his demands so far as they do not want to break their wage structure. It has led to a dangerous impasse where Salah could end up leaving - even for nothing.

Several clubs could end up picking the former AS Roma star up including Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona. And one legend from the Blaugrana has had his say after Ronaldinho had some advice for the 29-year-old.

“Advice to Salah regarding his future? The most important thing is for him to be happy, football is a source of happiness and it must be no matter what club he plays for in the future,” the Samba star said. “He has to keep playing football in a way that makes him happy because there’s nothing better than playing football.

“I wished I could play alongside Mohamed [Salah]. He is one of the best players in the world, who I always like to watch.”

Salah has had an incredible season for Liverpool where he has scored 31 times and assisted 16 in the process while his tally of 13 in the Premier League is the best in the competition. His goalscoring antics have seen the Reds lift a domestic double of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

There is one match left, though, with the small matter of the Champions League to settle. Liverpool travel to Paris to face Real Madrid in a repeat of the 2018 final.

On that occasion, Salah was forced off early in the first half as Liverpool fell to a 3-1 defeat after Loris Karius committed two shocking errors while Gareth Bale scored one of the best Champions League goals of all-time with an incredible overhead kick. The Reds would go on to lift the trophy next season after beating Tottenham.

But facing Real Madrid again has already revved up Salah, who has already spoken out on claiming revenge on Los Blancos as he ramps up the fighting talk. "I'm so excited, I said before the game that I wanted to play Madrid in the final," he said.

"We lost in the (2018) final, it was a sad day for all of us and I think it is revenge time. I'm sure it is going to be a tough game, they beat a lot of good teams so we just need to focus on the game."
