It’s finally NFL combine week. Teams will discuss deals — some legally, others illegally — and rumors will begin about which teams are interested in the upcoming free-agent class.
It’s also a good time for beat reporters of NFL teams to catch up with decision-makers, specifically the head coach or general manager. For years, that meant the Washington Commanders would send Jay Gruden out to face the media as then-president/GM Bruce Allen stayed behind and continued to ruin the franchise with owner Daniel Snyder.
Now with head coach Ron Rivera in charge, things are different. Rivera routinely appears on local radio shows and podcasts, and he’s also present at the combine. And it’s not just Rivera, but also general manager Martin Mayhew.
The combine begins Tuesday, and Rivera will be taking questions that afternoon. As for Mayhew, he’ll take the stage on Wednesday.
Expect plenty of quarterback talk for Washington’s top two decision-makers.
We’ll have you covered from both press conferences.
