The ITV Saturday night dating show fronted by Oti Mabuse, Romeo & Duet, has been axed by the channel after just one series. The series was divisive with critics and viewers and host Oti previously went on record to defend it to WalesOnline, read more about that here.
An ITV spokesperson told The Sun: "We have no plans for future series of Romeo & Duet at present. But we look forward to working with Oti again on The Masked Dancer later this year and are actively discussing other projects going forward."
The series, which aired in the spring featured Welsh contestants in the shape of 'The Singing Undertaker' and a former The Voice contestant. An insider told The Sun: "The feeling was that it wasn’t a case of Oti not being right for the show, more that the show wasn’t right for Oti..."

The prime-time Saturday show saw contestants sing one song to entice a fellow singleton. Oti, who left Strictly Come Dancing earlier this year, told WalesOnline that she “doesn’t expect everyone to love the show right off the bat". The axing of Romeo & Duet suggests that viewers will now get the chance to fall in love with the show.
During the show, the newly-formed couple will head off on a duet-date to learn a duet, before returning later in the show to perform that number in the ultimate romantic love battle; a singing competition against the other couples to be crowned the winners. The crowd’s chosen couple then get whisked off for another date to see if their love blossoms.
