Romelu Lukaku calls on Belgium to hire Thierry Henry as next manager: ‘There are no doubts’

Thierry Henry should be hired as the next manager of Belgium, according to Romelu Lukaku.

The Inter Milan striker, who has 104 caps for his country but failed to add to his 68 goals in a torrid World Cup campaign, has stated that he has “no doubts” over hiring the Arsenal legend.

Henry served his second stint as Belgium assistant manager to Roberto Martinez in Qatar after leaving in 2018 for spells in charge of Monaco and Montreal Impact.

The 45-year-old left the Canadian side so he can spend more time with his family in London but Lukaku believes he is the ideal candidate to try and revive the Red Devils after Martinez’s exit.

“For me Henry is the next coach of Belgium,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “There are no doubts, I say it openly: he will be the next coach.

“He has the respect of all the players, he has won everything. He knows how to coach, he knows what we have to do to get there.

“He wants to win, and I don't think the federation is going to get a coach who wants to change everything and start from scratch.”
