Rome Pushes for Opening HQs of Italian Companies in Saudi Arabia

An Italian delegation headed by MP Elena Morelli meeting with the Federation of Saudi Chambers in Riyadh (Asharq Al-Awsat)

Italian MP Elena Morelli, who chairs the Italian-Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee, has discussed ways to open headquarters for Italian companies in Saudi Arabia.

Morelli called for motivating Italian companies by simplifying and standardizing procedures, noting the availability of great cooperation opportunities between Riyadh and Rome in the renewable energy sectors, tourism, and infrastructure services such as hotels and highways.

The Italian MP’s call was made during a meeting in Riyadh organized by the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC). The meeting was held on Wednesday at the headquarters of the FSC in the presence of several Saudi businesspeople.

Morelli stressed that Saudi Arabia is witnessing openness and great positive changes that interest Italians, especially the business sector.

She emphasized that Italian companies are present in Saudi Arabia, and that many of them are looking to enter the Saudi market and take advantage of investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

According to a statement carried by the state-owned Saudi Press Agency, the FSC reviewed economic developments witnessed by Saudi Arabia in light of the Kingdom Vision 2030 during the discussions with the Italian parliamentary delegation headed by Morelli.

Discussions during the meeting went over cooperation in commerce and investment, and ways to further enhance relations between the two countries in these fields.

Morelli stressed the importance of the visit to Riyadh and the fruitful consultations she had, in addition to her country’s strong will to enhance economic relations with Saudi Arabia, which is witnessing positive openness and big changes that Italians, mainly in the business sector, are keen to explore.

For its part, the FSC explained the Saudi economic scene to the Italian parliamentary delegation.

It pointed to the Kingdom's economic components, the mega projects being developed within Vision 2030, and efforts to improve the business environment, facilitate trade and investment, and provide incentives to foreign investors.
