Roman Kemp sparks debate with 'genuine adult question' over use of towels

Roman Kemp appears to have sparked a debate as he took to social media with a 'genuine adult question'. The Capital FM DJ took to Twitter earlier this week as he pondered how many times it’s acceptable to reuse a towel before putting it in the wash.

The son of music stars Martin and Shirlie Kemp wrote on his profile to his more than 318,000 followers: "Genuine adult question…How often can you reuse a towel?" Among the known repliers was former Love Island star Chris Hughes who said: "A week at least…you’re clean by the time you use it. Just clean water being dried out and ready to reuse again."

Hollyoaks actress Jessica Fox, who is known for playing Nancy in the Channel 4 soap, said: "Depends how you hang it up to dry. But three to four uses in my opinion."

And the replied were soon racking up. One read: "I use one for a whole week, is that weird? I only get a new one in the middle of the week if the first one I was using gets some strange smell on it, which never happens, so…" Another echoed: "Normally change them once a week. Is that bad."

But a third replied: "This thread is wild. Every couple of weeks, or so. Same with sheets. We’re all still alive here." Another follower laughed: "Until it stands up by itself. Then it's time for the washing machine."

Roman also saw the funny side of the conversation he sparked as he later asked in a follow-up tweet: "Is this on @loosewomen yet?" to which those behind the show's official social media account replied with a string of eye emojis.

Also earlier this week, Roman poked fun at himself after he was trolled for wearing a crocheted vest top to The BRIT Awards on Saturday night. Singer Sam Smith and their inflatable black costume wasn't the only outfit that had viewers talking on Saturday night.

The 30-year-old TV and radio star took to Instagram to share tweets from viewers of the ceremony as they mocked his wardrobe choice. The look was compared to Onslow from the sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, another screenshot read: "Roman Kemp channeling Bennett from Commando" as well as "Roman Kemp dressed like Wallace at breakfast #wallaceandgromit."

Another viewer asked: "Why does Roman Kemp look like he didn't give his nan enough time to finish knitting his sweater?" Alongside a picture of himself making it on TV in his controversial attire, Roman wrote on Instagram: "Thought I would wear something bit more fun to the Brits… it has gone down well then."

The following day, Roman had another jokey dig at himself as he Instagrammed another selection of photos, this time of himself on the red carpet in a black studded jacket and black trousers. "Nicer pictures from the Brits… NO VEST PICS," he captioned the collection.
