Roman Kemp issues warning and says 'sorry mum' as he's left naked after losing his shorts on Costa Rica holiday

Roman Kemp's latest social media post came with a warning and an apology to his mum as she shared how he lost his clothes while taking a dip in a thermal rival while on holiday. The Capital FM DJ had been taking a well-earned break in Costa Rica when his personal disaster struck.

Roman, 30, shared a selection of candid shots with his followers as he frolicked in the water completely starkers with just a frog emoji covering his modesty while he also revealed his face had been covered in a mud mask as he filly invested himself in the relaxing experience.

In one image, the TV and radio star could be seen showing off his impressive collection of back tattoos as he arched over in the river. However, it wasn't quite the experience he had in mind as he suffered a blunder and was left attempting to retrieve his belongings from the water.

Warning followers about the images to come, Roman wrote at the start of his string of images on a black backdrop: "I went naked into a thermal river on holiday, placed my shorts on the side... they floated away." He added: "Not a lot of sexiness or grace and decorum in the next post."

The son of Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp and Wham!'s Shirley Kemp then added in the caption of his post: "I guess I should explain… sorry mum." Fans were quick to comment on the post, tagging their friends and telling them they were "creased" over the array of unfortunately timed images.

@hayley_jane_64 said: "Literally crying here, so bloody hilarious." @rebekaaah__ posted: "I cannot cope with you hahahahahahha." @sha88675 quipped: "You might as well just open an OF now." @lyns770 added: "Omg this has made me laugh so much today."

There were some unanswered questions as @mattjglewis asked: "More to the point who’s taking the photos." And @beckynewbery22 quizzed: "Why have you got an avatar sized foot in the 4th pic? But @stacy_matthews78 was a fan as she laughed: "No need to explain. Thanks for brightening up my insta feed though!! #hotbod."

Seeing the funny side of his gaffe, Roman then shared an edited poster of Disney's The Little Mermaid film, with his naked self reaching out to grab the mermaid's tail. Another image showed him placing his own candid snap alongside one of ET looking rather compromised.

He also spoke about his holiday mishap on Capital Breakfast on Monday morning (April 17), as he explained: "I was in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle, there are twelve volcanos around Costa Rica, they also have a lot of thermal rivers, ….the temperature of a nice bath, not too hot, not too cold, just right.

"I’ve got into the thermal river and thought I’ve really got to embrace nature, there was no one else there at the time, or so I thought. I took my shorts off, so now I’m naked in the thermal river… I’m applying the mud; I’ve left my shorts on the side of the river against a rock so I thought they’d be fine.

"I’m bathing, feeling at one, lying back, enjoying this whole experience, I’m really at zen, and then I’ve realised that my shorts are floating down the stream! Then I’ve realised I’m naked in this river, there are people walking past, and I realise it’s also a public footpath, so families… and now I’m really worried."

He went on: "I'm fully naked in this thermal river and my shorts are going down stream and I’m really panicking, I’m paddling, I’m on all fours on a rock. I’m fully naked on all fours on this rock trying to grasp…, at the best of times if you’re reaching for something it’s not too flattering, I’m fully reaching for my shorts, I’ve missed them at first jump so I’ve had to get out of the thermal river, run down a little bit, naked, cupping myself, and had to jump in a little bit further down to retrieve the shorts."
