Didier Drogba spearheaded the Roman Abramovich era, and the Russian billionaire has already passed on the torch to Chelsea's next phenomenon, ready for the new owners.
Armando Broja, who earned his stripes at Cobham amid the Ivorian striker's peak, showcased his talent again with a fantastically worked goal to send Southampton into the FA Cup quarter-final beating West Ham 3-1.
The 20-year-old striker has scored six goals in just 14 Premier League starts this season, and he's slowly warranting the eye-opening comparisons to some of the world's biggest upcoming stars.
Broja's dazzling displays should leave Chelsea's new owners in no doubt as to whether or not the Albanian could lead Thomas Tuchel's frontline, as Drogba did for the Blues once upon a time.
The youngster has impressed on loan under Ralph Hasenhuttl and has grown into an integral contributor towards the Saints' success this campaign.
Broja, who has continued to exceed expectations, has impressed so much that the Southampton boss has already begun his mission to sign the striker permanently.
Hasenhuttl warned the Cobham graduate that the grass isn't always greener amid, what is so far, a successful loan spell that has attracted attention from a host of Premier League sides, according to various reports.
“He knows how important it is for him as a player to play continuously,” Hasenhuttl said. “Here, he gets that chance and has shown he fits us and our shape.
“There are a lot of examples where players after changing clubs do not perform as they have done with us.
“We have a good relationship with Chelsea and are in good contact. He is their player. We have tried to develop him here, and I think we have.
"If they think we should do it another year and do not want to sell him in the summer, then there is no better spot to be."
Football.london reported last month that Arsenal are currently monitoring Broja's situation, with his future at Stamford Bridge far from certain.
So, Chelsea's next owners must understand the importance of retaining his services in what could be a symbolic start to a new era under Tuchel, who has struggled to finalise his best front three.
