Roma Fires Coach De Rossi After Winless Start

Roma's head coach Daniele De Rossi calls out to his players during the Europa League quarterfinal first leg soccer match between AC Milan and Roma at the San Siro Stadium, in Milan, Italy, Thur

AS Roma has made the decision to part ways with coach Daniele De Rossi, a move that has surprised many despite the team's winless start to the Italian league season. De Rossi, who took over from Jose Mourinho in January, had shown promise during the previous season, earning a contract extension through 2026-27. However, the club has decided that a change is necessary to steer the team back on track early in the season.

The club expressed gratitude to De Rossi for his dedication and passion during his tenure and assured that he will always be welcomed back at the Giallorossi club. AS Roma is yet to announce who will take over the coaching responsibilities following De Rossi's departure.

AS Roma is set to face Serie A leaders Udinese in their upcoming match on Sunday. Reports suggest that Ivan Juric, a seasoned coach with experience at clubs like Genoa, Hellas Verona, and Torino, is close to finalizing a deal to become the new head coach of AS Roma. Juric's most recent stint at Torino saw the team achieve respectable finishes in the league.

This marks the first coaching change in Serie A this season, with AS Roma hoping to turn their fortunes around after a slow start. The team has managed only three points from their opening four matches, with a lack of attacking prowess evident in their performances.

Looking ahead, AS Roma is gearing up to kick off their Europa League campaign against Athletic Bilbao at the Olimpico stadium. The team will be without Romelu Lukaku, whose loan spell ended last season, but will rely on talented striker Paulo Dybala to lead the attacking line.

AS Roma's American owners, Dan and Ryan Friedkin, have been known for making bold and unexpected decisions in the past. The club will be looking to swiftly appoint a new coach to guide them through the remainder of the season and achieve their objectives.
