Melbourne: India skipper Rohit Sharma called the 184-run crushing defeat at the hands of Australia in the fourth Test here as "mentally disturbing".

"It is mentally disturbing when you can't do what you have come to do," Rohit Sharma told reporters after the match.
"It is a very disappointing. There are ways to win games and we fell short in finding ways to win the game here. We wanted to put up a fight and unfortunately we couldn't do it," he said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Australia were 90 for six in their second innings while lead read 200 on the fourth day but they ended up with 340-run target for the visitors. India skipper admitted that his team could not exploit the conditions.
"We had Australia 90 for 6. We know things can get tough, but we want to play tough cricket from hard situations. But we were not good enough. I went back to my room and thought about what else we could have done as a team," Rohit added.
Australia defeated India by 184-run in the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Monday.

Cummins was adjourned player of the match for his all-round performance. He scored 49 runs in first innings and 41 runs in second innings.
