Halfback Aidan Sezer suffered an injury in Leeds’ defeat last time out against Leigh Leopards, leaving head coach Rohan Smith with a problem to solve in the halves heading into their clash with Salford Red Devils at Headingley on Friday night.
Sezer came off shortly into the second half with a quad issue, with the severity somewhat unknown. Smith gave a prognosis on the injury in his pre-match press conference, confirming he was set for a spell on the sidelines.
He said: “He suffered a really deep dead leg cork contusion, really deep in his quad to the point he was in a bad way at half time and couldn’t really move the back-end of the first half. It’s going to be a few weeks of injury, occasionally those bleeds go really deep and become a relatively serious injury."

When probed on his potential options, Smith admitted Jack Sinfield would come into his thinking after being named in the 21-man squad, but added that Richie Myler was also being considered. That would see Ash Handley move to the fullback role Smith has been keen to use him in during the year.
“We’ve been practicing differently, with Sinny doing some practice there but also Richie Myler in the halves and Ash at full back which is what we did a lot through the pre-season games. We feel like we have some options there to cover as needed.
“When the time is right, Jack has performed well through the pre-season, he’s grown. He’s still a young lad but he’s been playing really well in the academy and reserve fixtures and in training. I’ll look forward to the opportunity when the time is right.”
