Roger Sexton dead: Survivor contestant and former marine dies after dementia battle

Roger Sexton has died at the age of 76, his family has confirmed in a statement.

The former marine starred in the sixth series of reality TV show Survivor, which was filmed near the Amazon in Brazil in 2002.

Roger's loved ones released a statement saying he died at his daughter's home on October 26 after a battle with Lewy body dementia.

The post read: "Surrounded by his loving family and the caring assistance of Walla Walla Hospice, Roger was finally able to find peace."

Lewy body dementia is one of the most common types of the disease and the NHS says common symptoms include hallucinations, problems with understanding, thinking, and memory, confusion or sleepiness, slow movement, disturbed sleep, and fainting spells.

According to his obituary, Roger was born in Oakland, California, and served as a marine in Vietnam for one year.

His daughter died in 1992 aged just 16. She had suffered viral pneumonia.
