Rodrigo Bentancur Posts Health Update After Worrying Injury

Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has posted a health update on social media after suffering a worrying injury during his side’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Bentancur went for a header from a Tottenham corner but landed awkwardly on the floor and laid motionless on the ground. The incident happened just five minutes into the first-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

There was instant concern from his team-mates with Pedro Porro the first one to rush over to his side.

There was swift medical response with treatment lasting nine minutes on the pitch before he was taken off on a stretcher.

Tottenham confirmed on Wednesday night that the Uruguayan had been taken to hospital for further scans.

Bentancur Provides Health Update On Social Media

Bentancur posted a health update on social media in the early hours of Thursday morning to reassure fans on his wellbeing.

He posted a picture of himself smiling with his fiancee, Melany La Banca, by his side.

Alongside the picture he wrote: “All good, guys! Thank you for the messages!!! Congratulations for the victory boys!!!”

His positive update will come as a relief to fans. It was his first game back after serving a one-match suspension for picking up five bookings this season.

Prior to that, he was hit with a seven-game ban for the use of an alleged racial slur towards team-mate Son Heung-min during a TV interview in Uruguay.

It remains unclear as to the injury Bentancur suffered and how long he could be out of action for Tottenham.

Tottenham Take Early Advantage In Semi-Final

The health update provided by Rodrigo Bentancur will be a positive for Tottenham fans. Despite the midfielder’s injury Tottenham went on to hand Liverpool just their second defeat of the season in all competitions.

Lucas Bergvall netted an 86th minute winner for Spurs. However, there was arguments over whether he should have picked up a second yellow card just moments before.

Tottenham will look to defend their lead and book their place at Wembley in the second-leg which takes place on February 6 at Anfield.
