Rodrigo Bentancur has dropped a possible hint over being included in the Tottenham starting line-up for this evening's Premier League clash with Southampton.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who completed a permanent switch to Spurs on transfer deadline day at the end of last month, made his debut for his new club at the weekend - coming on for the last 13 minutes in the FA Cup fourth round victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Bentancur will be hoping to make his Premier League debut for Tottenham on Wednesday evening as Spurs welcome Southampton to north London in a crucial match for their top four hopes.
With that being said, Bentancur's recent activity on his official Instagram account may hint at a place in the starting line-up this evening. The Uruguay international posted a matchday graphic on his story - often indicating involvement in previous cases with other players.
What has Conte said about Bentancur?
Bentancur arrived on transfer deadline day, along with his Juventus colleague Dejan Kulusevski, as Tottenham completed a double deal very late on in the month.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte, when speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon, revealed that both Bentancur and Kulusevski have been training well with their new team-mates.
Conte said: "I think they’re working very well and I’m pleased with the way they understand our idea of football.
"They are two good players and they are working very well. For sure they need a bit of time to get into the team and understand the technical aspect, but I know that I can count on them."
What has Bentancur said?
After signing for Tottenham, Bentancur revealed his delight at joining the north London club and expressed his excitement to work under Conte.
“It’s a great Club with great players – always competing in all competitions," the Uruguayan said. "I was very happy when I heard about the interest in me and thankfully I’ve joined now.
"It’s a huge pleasure and an honour to be able to represent this shirt. As I said, it’s a brilliant Club and a great league that I’ve always liked and now I’m going to have the chance to enjoy it alongside the other great players that we have."
He added: "I am looking forward to learning from Antonio Conte - I think he is a great coach, he wants to win and gets 150 per cent out of his players."
