Rodri leaves Spain legend stewing as skipper warned he broke the golden rule

Legendary Spanish keeper Santi Canizares has told his country's sulky skipper Rodri to belt up after his bleating about Scotland.

Spain's players have lined up to criticise Scotland's physicality, tactics, pitch and time wasting after they were stunned in a 2-0 defeat at Hampden thanks to Scott McTominay's double for Steve Clarke's men.

They were led by captain Rodri who produced a graceless list of complaints and concluded that Scotland were 'rubbish.' However, former Valencia stalwart Canizares, who represented his country at three World Cups and three European Championships before retiring to embark on a curious change of career as a rally driver, reckons Rodri should have kept his mouth shut. He said: "If I have to criticise someone, I would only do it after I had won. He should have said nothing. I didn't like any of the press conferences after the match. Luis de la Fuente said he was satisfied with Spain, but he should have been critical of them.

"Of course there has to be criticism because we haven't played well. That's what happens when Spain loses. Worst of all were the changes Luis de la Fuente made. making all those changes can't help a team.

"The way he reacted to adversity was worrying. I'm also not sure Spain knew how to react when Scotland scored."
