Rodri delivers Man City vs Arsenal Premier League title verdict amid Erling Haaland warning

Manchester City star Rodri has delivered his thoughts on the Premier League title race after both City and Arsenal dropped points last weekend. The Gunners handed the incentive to Pep Guardiola's men after they lost to Everton on Saturday, but City were unable to capitalise on their defeat losing to Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham the following day.

Arguably the biggest clash of the season thus far takes place next Wednesday where Arsenal will take on City at Emirates Stadium, but first both teams must bypass Brentford and Aston Villa on home soil, respectively.

Guardiola's side may hold the mental advantage over Arsenal after knocking them out of the FA Cup courtesy of a second-half goal from Nathan Ake. However, the Gunners can be buoyed by the fact they are yet to lose in the league at home this season, defeating Manchester United with a late Eddie Nketiah strike over a fortnight ago.

Ahead of their meeting with Villa at the weekend, Rodri has been discussing what City must do to remain in the title race, but could face an "impossible" challenge if Arsenal keep doing one thing.

"We are calm, we know that there is a long way to go and we are going in the right direction, he told DAZN, via NotiAmerica. "It is true that Arsenal have had an impressive first part of the year. Obviously, if they maintain that level and are capable of doing the same in the second it will be impossible."

One advantage City certainly do hold though is the fact they have a natural goal scorer who is on course to breaking several Premier League records. From 21 games, Erling Haaland has 25 goals and his team-mate Rodri does not even think he has reached the peak of his ability.

"He has an innate talent for goal, there is no doubt about that," he said. "He can still contribute many more things to us. I think he is a player who can be squeezed much more and that is what I try to let him know from my position. "
