Rodgers offers Celtic injury update on Phillips and sets Carter-Vickers timeline

Brendan Rodgers has revealed he faces a nervy wait to make a decision on Nat Phillips ahead of Celtic's clash against Livingston this weekend.

The Liverpool loanee missed the midweek loss to Feyenoord in the Champions League because of an ankle knock.

Phillips picked up the injury in the win over Dundee when he was replaced at the break after rolling his ankle.

However, Rodgers hasn't ruled out a return for this weekend but admitted it had been a pretty bad ankle issue.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "We’ll see how Nat Phillips is. He obviously rolled his ankle quite badly last weekend so we’ll see how he is. We’ve still got another 24 hours to go before we make the team.

"Apart from that, everyone else is okay. Reo Hatate got more game time and is fighting to fitness but it was good to get him on the field.

"Other than that there are no other injuries."

Rodgers also revealed Cameron Carter-Vickers is still aiming for an October return to action for Celtic.

The defender has been out with a hamstring issue since the win over Aberdeen in August and won't return before next month.

Rodgers confirmed: "It’s early October. He’s still a wee bit away."
