Rodgers names Celtic team to face Hearts with fringe man set for league debut

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has named his team to face Heart of Midlothian this afternoon.

The Parkhead side are looking to bounce back from their 3-2 loss to Rangers prior to the international break.

Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate scored on that day, although Rodgers' men couldn't keep it tight at the other end, with Nicolas Raskin, Mohamed Diomande and Hamza Igamane all netting to give the Ibrox club a sought-after three points.

Despite their derby defeat almost a fortnight ago, Celtic can take another step towards the Scottish Premiership title with a victory over Hearts today.

For the match, Rodgers has made two changes from the loss to Rangers.

One of those, most notably, comes between the sticks.

Kasper Schmeichel picked up an injury while on international duty with Denmark, so young backup goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo is handed his maiden league start.

While, the other is a return for captain Callum McGregor.

Confirmed Celtic team to play Hearts: Sinisalo, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Nawrocki, Schlupp, McGregor, Engels, Hatate, Kühn, Maeda, Jota.

Substitutes: Bain, Taylor, Trusty, Idah, Yang, McCowan, Bernardo, Forrest, Ralston.

Hearts starting XI: Gordon, Baningime, Shankland, Devlin, Steinwender, Milne, Kabangu, Wilson, Neilson, Penrice, Forrester.

Substitutes: Clark, Halkett, Grant, Nieuwenhof, Spittal, Forrest, Dhanda, Kartum, Musa.
