Rodger Saffold was released by the Tennessee Titans last week, prompting Los Angeles Rams fans to wonder if the veteran guard could make a return this offseason. For those that were hoping to see Saffold back in horns, those dreams are quickly gone as Saffold is signing with the Buffalo Bills.
The legal tampering period in the NFL began on Monday, which allows teams to verbally speak to unrestricted free agents. Teams can come to terms with players, but they can’t officially sign them until the new league year begins on Wednesday, March 16th.
However, since Saffold was released by the Titans ahead of free agency, he had an opportunity to sign wherever he wanted without having to wait until the new league year began. And with the Bills on the rise in the AFC East, Saffold is looking to show that he still has some gas left in the tank at 33 years old.

Saffold also reunites with Aaron Kromer, who was the former offensive line coach of the Rams and is the current offensive line coach of the Bills.
With Saffold no longer available, the Rams may need to look elsewhere if they are unable to re-sign Austin Corbett. Given the contracts we’ve seen guards sign thus far in the legal tampering period, it looks as if Corbett could be too expensive for Los Angeles to retain.
Even though it was fun while it lasted, the idea of Saffold rejoining the Rams this offseason has come to an abrupt conclusion.
