Rod Stewart says The Queen is 'just like him' as she celebrates Platinum Jubilee

Rod Stewart has praised The Queen as she celebrates her Platinum Jubilee and has said her example of 'integrity and grace' is 'just like him.'

Her Majesty marked her Platinum Jubilee this week but official celebrations take place in June.

Sir Rod took to Twitter to praise her for being 'a wonderful example' over the last 70 years.

In a tweet, he wrote: "The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Year has officially started. She’s been a wonderful example of how to conduct yourself with integrity and grace for 70 years now (just like me!) and we should all look forward to acknowledging her magnificent service! Sir Rod."

And many agreed with him.

One wrote: "Lovely words, I agree with you wholeheartedly, big love."

Another added: "GOD bless you Queen Elizabeth. You have been a treasure to all."

While one wrote: "God Save The Queen ! and Sir Rod Stewart !"

Queen Elizabeth II is the first monarch to reign for seven decades and is reaching the landmark in the year she turns 96.

Two extra bank holidays, on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3, have been confirmed for the celebration - creating a four-day weekend.

It is hoped millions will gather at street parties, host a Big Jubilee Lunch or get together around the county to thank the Queen for 70 years of service, but also to thank neighbours, family, friends, communities, the NHS and key workers for their support over the past year.

Celebrities Ross Kemp, Gary Lineker, Gareth Southgate, Levi Roots, Prue Leith, Alan Titchmarsh, Ellie Simmonds and Lorraine Kelly are among those backing the special Thank You Day on Sunday June 5.
