Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster 'honoured' to work King Charles' Coronation with police

Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster reflected on her 'honour' to work with the police during King Charles' Coronation celebrations last weekend.

The Loose Women panellist shared a snap of the moment the King's gold carriage passed her while she stood guard over the crowds. In the post, Penny gushed that being a part of the historic celebrations was 'a proud moment she'll never forget.'

Writing on Instagram, Penny, 52, said: "Reflecting on The Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III & Queen Camilla. I was honoured to have the been given the opportunity to serve during this very special day."

She added: "A very proud moment, I’ll never forget. Thanks to some members of the public in the crowd that day, I have some wonderful images to cherish, thank you."

Penny officially passed her Special Constable training with the City of London Police in October last year, but had the honour of volunteering to help at the late Queen's funeral.

The mum-of-two has been patrolling the streets as a volunteer officer since April 2021 after appearing in the Channel 4 show Famous And Fighting Crime, in which celebrities swapped their day jobs with those of emergency service professionals.

Speaking of Penny's role in the Coronation proceedings, Rod gushed over his wife and discussed his love for the monarchy. "My wife actually was working, she’s a part-time police constable,” Sir Rod told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“So, we know Charles quite well. She got loads of photos of her standing in line with the coronation coach.”

“I love the royal family,” he added. “I think it could be trimmed down a bit, but I think Charles is a lovely guy, the queen was always so nice to me, which is why I love them. I’m a knight, so of course I’m going to support them.”
