Rod Stewart's son, 11, rushed to hospital after collapsing and 'going blue' at football match

Rod Stewart has revealed his son Aiden, 11, was rushed to hospital after collapsing at a football match.

The 77-year-old singer feared his son had suffered a heart attack after he was taken to hospital in an ambulance while playing for his Young Hoops Under 12s team.

Rod recalled the "scary" moment and revealed his son had in fact suffered a panic attack.

"We thought my boy had a heart attack," he said.

"He was going blue and was unconscious until he calmed down. It was scary, but it turned out to be a panic attack."

Rod explained his son "wanted to do well" and added Aiden had "pulled on the Hoops in Scotland for his dad."

Singer Rod added to FourFourTwo magazine that another lad on the team fell backwards and banged his head, which caused another ambulance to be called.

He added: "In all of my days watching football, that's the only time two ambulances had been called."

According to the NHS, there are a number of symptoms of a panic attack including a racing heartbeat, feeling faint, chest pain and shortness of breath.

However, it adds: "Be aware that most of these symptoms can also be symptoms of other conditions or problems, so you may not always be experiencing a panic attack."

Rod shares his son Aiden with his wife Penny Lancaster Stewart, whom he wed in 2007.

The Maggie May singer also has seven other children.

Rod has been hit by two tragedies recently as two of his siblings recently died.

The singer's brother Bob died two months after his brother Don.

He spoke of his heartache as he announced the sad news of his brother Bob's death at the end of November.

Rod wrote on Instagram: "It's with great sadness that I announce the loss of my brother Bob last night, who joins my brother Don on the great football pitch in the sky.

"I've lost two of my best mates in the space of two months. RIP Don and Bob 'irreplaceable buddies' Sir Rod Stewart."

Rod, who also has two sisters, Peggy and Mary, did not give a reason for Bob's death in his post.

And, last month Rod's son Sean was rushed to hospital following a terrifying road accident.

Sean, who is the eldest son of Sir Rod, revealed he was "hit by a truck at a red light" in an Instagram post in October.

he entrepreneur shared a selfie that appeared to show him in a hospital gown. The photo showed Sean sporting a yellow neckbrace as well as a pale face covering.

Alongside the photo, Sean wrote in the post: "I got hit by a truck at a red light." He continued in the caption that accompanied the selfie: "Hard out here on these streets."

In a later update, Sean revealed he was "in a lot of pain" as he posted a selfie while sat down next to his Labrador Retriever Prince. Alongside the snap, he wrote: "Still in a lot of pain.

"Got my best Friend by my side #dogydoctor."
