Rod Stewart plots Celtic tour Down Under with Ange Postecoglou landmark pinpointed as he declares 'love' for boss

Sir Rod Stewart is heading Down Under this week and will embark on a pilgrimage to Ange Postecoglou's first house in Melbourne when he goes on tour to Australia this week.

The Celtic fanatic is about to play several shows in Oz and has revealed he will put his spare time to good use when he performs in Melbourne. Hoops boss Postecoglou moved to Melbourne when he was five years old from his Greek homeland and went on to play for and manage South Melbourne.

And the 78-year-old pop star wants to pay homage to the Celtic boss when he plays the city later this month. In an interview on an Australian radio station, Stewart told the hosts: "You must take me to see Ange's house. That would be lovely and I'll send him some pictures. We must arrange that. What a guy he is! Football in this country needed a bit of dignity and he's brought it to us. He's a wonderful man. Every time he beats Rangers I send him six bottles of Australian wine. That's three times now."

But he insisted that despite his love of Celtic, he's never been tempted to follow in the footsteps of fellow pensioner rocker Sir Elton John, who first started investing in Watford in 1976, by putting money into Celtic

He said: "No, not really. I remember when Elton John went and bought into Watford and it caused him a lot of stress and made him lose his hair so I decided I wouldn't get involved and just be a fan. I like to mingle with the fans too in the pub which gives me great joy."
