Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood unite on stage for performance to pay tribute to pal Jeff Beck

Sir Rod Stewart and pal Ronnie Wood have united together on stage to pay tribute to their pal Jeff Beck, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

The pals, who played together in The Faces, were at the Royal Albert Hall to perform in memory of their talented friend, who they said helped them in their careers. The rockers spoke to the crowd and remembered the guitarist.

Rod's wife Penny shared the footage on her Instagram story.

In the clip, Rod took the mic and said: "Jeff was instrumental in us getting started out."

Rolling Stone star Ronnie added: "He took us to America!"

Rod then said: "He did! He took us to America."

Ronnie interjected: "60 years ago!"

Rod then told the audience: "So we're going to do two songs off of Truth - we ain't old enough! This whole album was recorded at Abbey Road - you know the one with the zebra crossing!"

On his Instagram, Ronnie shared a video of himself talking to the camera, he said: "Hey Jeff, here we are - god bless you, we are all here to support the memory of Jeff Beck at the Royal Albert Hall tonight. So everyone enjoy tonight, god bless you."

Back in January, the guitarist's family announced that he had sadly died after contracting bacterial meningitis.

Making the statement on Twitter, the family said: "On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck's passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss."

The Grammy-winning guitarist rose to prominence with rock band The Yardbirds and went on to have a successful solo career and fronted the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice.
