Jaswinder Singh ‘Rocky was a former alleged associate of notorious gangster Prabhjinder Singh Dimpy. Dimpy is said to be among the earliest to have grouped together an organised gang in Punjab and had links with gangsters operating in UP.
Rocky and Dimpy fell apart and when Dimpy was killed in a shootout outside the lake club in Chandigarh in 2006, Rocky was booked for planning the murder. Rocky turned to politics but continued to have hold over gangsters such as Lakha Sidhana lodged in Bathinda Jail, Lawerance Bishnoi in Kapurthala Jail, Kulbir Singh Naruana in Patiala Jail and Kala Dhanola in Nabha jail.
The other gang is led by Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, who had joined hands with Jaipal --- the leader of one the most dreaded gang of highway robbers responsible for over 40 robberies, several murders, kidnappings, extortion and half-a-dozen bank heists.
While Jaipal is absconding and is said to be in Rajasthan with his accomplice Tirath, Sekhon is lodged in Nabha high security jail and allegedly manages the gang from inside the jail. Sekhon was arrested for the recent murder of gangster Sukhbir Singh (Sukha) Kahlwan in January 2015. Jaipal gang’s other members include Chandan alias Chandu, one of Jaipal’s oldest associates. He is lodged in Ferozepur jail. Harjinder Singh, alias Vicky Gonder, Prema Lahoria of Jalandhar, Kulbir Singh Deol alias Neeta of Moga and Jodhvir alias Jodha Kotha Guru are members of the Sekhon group.
Gang war and killings
Jan 21, 2015: Gangster Sukha Kahlwan was shot dead in Phagwara allegedly by members of the Jaipal gang. Sukha was being brought from the Nabha jail to Jalandhar in connection with a case. Kahlwan was killed to avenge the death of Navpreet Singh Lovely in Lidhran village in 2010 allegedly by Kahlwan.
July 2012: Jaipal’s gang allegedly killed one of his gang members Amandeep Singh (Happy) Deora in Ferozepur due to his increasing closeness with Rocky. Deora was shot dead at point blank range by Jaipal’s close associate Gurshahid Singh (Shera) Khubban.
Sept 2012: Shera was shot dead by Punjab Police following information provided by Gurpreet Singh Sekhon Karmiti-- an associate of Happy Deora-- in Bathinda.
Dec 2013: In order to avenge Shera’s killing, Jaipal gang allegedly killed Karmiti --- who was the head of the truck union in Ghal Khurd --- in Bathinda.
