The Houston Rockets have recalled center Isaiah Hartenstein and forward Gary Clark from the Rio Grande Valley Viper of the NBA G League, the team announced on Monday. Hartenstein was assigned to the Vipers on Feb. 7, Clark was assigned to the Vipers on Feb. 4.
Their addition to Houston’s active roster does not mean that the Rockets have filled two roster spots after trimming down to 12 players at the NBA trade deadline. Hartenstein and Clark were already included in those 12. The team still needs to sign at least one more player in the next week and a half for its roster to be legal.
In the meantime, the duo could potentially see more run than usual in Houston, as the Rockets continue shorthanded. Until starting center Clint Capela (thumb) returns from surgery after the NBA All-Star break, Houston needs warm bodies in the frontcourt.
