Rochdale dog attack: Boy, 3, killed named as beast that mauled him put down

A three-year-old boy mauled to death by a killer dog has been named as Daniel Twigg.

Police have been investigating since the fatal incident at around 1pm on Sunday, May 16 in Milnrow, Rochdale.

Officers were forced to "humanely destroy" a dog at an address on Carr Lane after it attacked the tot - who has now been named as Daniel, the Manchester Evening News reports.

The boy was rushed to hospital but died a short while later as a result of his injuries.

Greater Manchester Police has referred itself to the independent watchdog for policing (IOPC) amid claims that previous victims had reported being attacked by dogs in the same area.

Police say they have established that Daniel was with a number of dogs in the outdoor area surrounding his home, prior to being found with serious injuries.

Now cops have seized several dogs and say one Cane Corso has been humanely destroyed.

Enquiries in relation to the dogs are ongoing.
