Rocco Vata 'scouted' by Inter Milan during UEFA Youth League clash

Celtic starlet Rocco Vata was "scouted" by Inter Milan during the Hoops' 2-0 victory over Lazio in the UEFA Youth League.

This is according to a report from the Daily Record which claims that "the Serie A giants are the latest side to put the Republic of Ireland under-21 international on their radar".

Vata is in the final year of his deal at Parkhead and is yet to make a competitive first-team appearance this season.

Italian club Torino are also said to be interested in the winger, along with Frosinone, who watched the player during Celtic's Premier League Cup defeat to Brighton last week.

Brendan Rodgers' men would be due £350,000 in training compensation if the youngster was to leave at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Chris Sutton has reacted to Celtic's loss to Lazio insisting the defeat was "predictably disappointing".

Brendan Rodgers' side slumped to another European defeat in Rome as  Ciro Immobile netted twice late on.

Sutton was hugely disappointed with the display of his former side, but he insists it was no shock given the performances in the competition already this season.

He wrote on Twitter: "A predictably disappointing night… can’t get away from it that as Champions League groups go this was a gentle one and one point from five games in this group is not good enough.

"The team tonight really lacked physicality as well as real belief against a bang average Lazio."

The Hoops went into the make-or-break game with one point from four Group E matches but gave as good as they got for most of the game before the Immoblile struck in the 82nd and 85th minute to sink the Scottish champions.

To rub salt in the Celtic wounds they were awarded a penalty by Halil Umut Meler in added time for a push on substitute Oh Hyeon-gyu but it was overturned when VAR intervened and sent the referee to the pitchside monitor for another look.

Celtic remain bottom of the section and cannot catch Lazio, Atletico Madrid or Feyenoord.
