Robson Green shares hopes to reunite with Jermone Flynn for Grantchester movie

Grantchester star Robson Green says he would love to direct a film version of the ITV hit series.

The 57-year-old, who plays DI Geordie Keating, was speaking ahead of the seventh season of the show, which begins next month.

He said that while he had “directed various projects in the past” he ruled out taking charge of a regular episode of Grantchester.

“In my view it’s a young person’s game,” he admitted.

He also told how he would love to be reunited with fellow Soldier Soldier actor Jerome Flynn as a guest star on the ITV show.

“Jerome would be great to have in Grantchester, he’s a fantastic actor,” he said.

Green stars in the show alongside Tom Brittney as Grantchester’s Rev Will Davenport.

The latest series is set in the long hot summer of 1959 with the wedding season in full swing in the Cambridge-shire village of Grantchester.

Tessa Peake-Jones returns as Mrs Chap-man, Al Wea- ver as Leonard Finch, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman, Melissa Johns as Miss Scott and Bradley Hall as Larry Peters.

At the end of the last series Keating’s wife Cathy packed him a bag and asked for time apart.

Green revealed that Geordie is lost without the “safety net of family” and has been living with Will at the vicarage.

He added: “There’s a lot of scope for odd couple behaviour.

“Will is definitely Jack Lemmon and Geordie is Walter Matthau. The situation Geordie is in lends itself to levity but he is a shadow of his former self.

“He’s back to square one and almost a bachelor again and realises he has to try and get Cathy back.

“The one person Geordie seeks advice from, who he shouldn’t seek advice from, is Will.

“There’s a funny irony being played out throughout the series with Geordie giving Will relationship advice as his own marriage falls apart.”

Grantchester Series 7, ITV, Friday March 11, 9pm.
