Jack Robinson is relishing the chance to carry momentum from his World Surf League season-opening title at Banzai Pipeline into the next round at nearby Sunset Beach.
The competition window for the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach opens on Sunday, just four days after 25-year-old West Australian Robinson triumphed at Pipeline, down the road on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii.
"It's cool to go straight into the next one, we don't really have time to lay off the gas," said Robinson.
"Sunset is always a tricky wave. I spend a lot of time out there, but there's always something to learn.
"Pipeline and Sunset are two of the most tricky waves there are. Never underestimate them."
Robinson will face California's Jake Marshall and Hawaiian injury replacement Eli Hanneman in the opening round as he chases a fifth career victory to extend his rankings leads early in his third season in the top tier.
He's joined by countrymen Ethan Ewing, Liam O'Brien, Jackson Baker, Callum Robson, Connor O'Leary and Ryan Callinan in the men's competition.
Australia's reigning and eight-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore will be out for redemption in the women's competition after her early elimination at Pipeline.
Gilmore comes up against countrywoman Isabella Nichols and local wildcard Zoe McDougall of Hawaii in the opening round.
Two-time world champion Tyler Wright reached the final at Pipeline before losing to home hero Carissa Moore.
She opens her Sunset Beach campaign against Bettylou Sakura Johnson (HAW) and Caitlin Simmers (USA).
Molly Picklum, Sally Fitzgibbons and Macy Callaghan are the other Australian women in the contest.
