Robin Williams' son Zak pays tribute to his dad on the eighth anniversary of his death

Robin Williams' son Zachary paid tribute to his 'incredibly kind' father on the eighth anniversary of his death.

The Good Will Hunting star died by suicide on August 11, 2014, shocking the entire world.

His 39-year-old son took to social media to pay tribute to the comedy icon and posted a sweet throwback photo of Robin.

"Dad, on the eighth anniversary of your passing, I'm remembering how incredibly kind and joyful you were," he tweeted.

"I deeply miss you you wonderful, hairy man and will be celebrating your life today. Love you so so much!"

Fans took to the comment section to share their support and write down their favourite memories.

"Your father inspires me on a daily basis. Inspires me to be kind to others, to be honest about my own feelings, and to take care of my mental health," one user wrote.

"I hope you feel the love and support of all of his great full fans, including me."

Another shared a photo of them posing with the actor and wrote: "Hi Zak, your dad couldn’t have been nicer when I had an opportunity to meet him and take this picture back in 2002 (Memphis).

"I can’t imagine what you go through this time each year, but I hope knowing how much so many of us genuinely loved him is at least some comfort. Peace."

Actor Bradley Whitford said: "Zak, your dad was so kind to me when I was starting out. A fountain of light. His memory is a blessing."

In July 2021, on what would have been Robin's 70th birthday, Zak revealed his dad's "frustration" after he was misdiagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

After his death, it was found that Robin had been suffering from Lewy body dementia - the second most common type of progressive dementia.

Zak told The Genius Life : "What he was going through didn't match one to one (with what) many Parkinson's patients experience. So, I think that was hard for him.

"There was a focus issue that frustrated him, there were issues associated with how he felt and also from a neurological perspective he didn't feel great. He was very uncomfortable."

Robin left behind three children, including Zachary (from his marriage with Valerie Velardi) and Zelda and Cody (from his marriage to Marsha Garces).

He had been married to Susan Schneider for almost three years before his death.
