Roberto Firmino wanted by MLS clubs as Liverpool forward prepares next move

Roberto Firmino is reportedly attracting interest from MLS clubs as he weighs up his next step ahead of leaving Liverpool this summer.

It recently emerged the Brazilian star would be calling time on his eight-year stay with the Reds to pursue a new challenge once his current contract expires at the end of the season, much to the disappointment of many supporters.

The 31-year-old is likely to receive a variety of offers from not only European clubs due to the significant impact he has had since signing for Liverpool back in 2015. The likes of AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have already been linked with making moves for Firmino, though it has now been suggested two American teams are keen on the forward.

Jurgen Klopp admitted at his press conference on Friday afternoon he was shocked to learn of the Reds' No.9's impending exit. "Yes, he told me [he was leaving]," the Liverpool boss said. "Was I surprised? Yes, a little bit but I was not hit by the surprise, actually it’s a normal thing to do.

"It could go two ways and it was one and I respect that a lot. It’s completely normal in this kind of long relationship that we have and Bobby (Firmino) has with the club and with most of the players and stuff like this, and with the fans of course.

"It’s pretty special and I loved the reception he got when he came on against United. He told me and then the only other thing he said is: ‘Now I want to bring this wonderful story to a positive end'. So, that’s it."
