Roberto Firmino Liverpool 'leaving date' named by Sir Kenny Dalglish signing

Roberto Firmino has been tipped to leave Liverpool next season.

The break-up of Liverpool's famous front three has started this summer with Sadio Mane joining Bayern Munich. The 30-year-old has left Anfield after six years on Merseyside to link up with the Bundesliga giants in a £35m deal.

Before Mane completed his move to Bayern, his contract at Liverpool was originally scheduled to run out next summer. It’s the same for Firmino, who is now into the final year of his deal with the club.

And former Reds midfielder Stewart Downing, who was signed by Sir Kenny Dalglish for £20m in 2011, believes the forthcoming campaign could be the Brazilian's last at Anfield.

“Towards the end of last season, Roberto Firmino didn’t play as often as he would like. He was a regular at one point and played nearly every game,” Downing is quoted telling 360 Sports TV for the Masters Cup, via The Express .

“It’s the cycle of football. Diogo Jota came in and surprised everyone. I knew he was a good player, but he got goals and hit the ground running.

“Then there’s Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz, who got shifted into the side ahead of Firmino. You’ve always got to be at the top of your game for clubs like Liverpool because they need to keep progressing, it will be interesting to see.

“I hope Darwin Nunez hits the ground running, but I see Firmino being a back-up player to him. If they can get Firmino back to the form he was at a couple of seasons ago, it’s another great dimension for Liverpool, but it will probably be his last year, or he might do until January.”
