Roberto Firmino absence explained as Liverpool make Naby Keita and Luis Diaz decisions against Everton

Diogo Jota returns up front for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp makes two changes for Sunday's Merseyside derby with Everton.

The Portugal international was used from the bench in Tuesday's 4-0 demolition of Manchester United at Anfield but is back up top leading the line as Luis Diaz drops to the bench.

In midfield, Naby Keita returns to the side in place of captain Jordan Henderson as the Guinea international is named alongside Fabinho and the in-form Thiago Alcantara.

As expected, Roberto Firmino misses out entirely with a foot injury as he continues his efforts to prove his fitness for Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg at home to Villarreal.

That return of Jota is likely to see Sadio Mane moving on to the left of Liverpool's front three as they go in search of the points that will reduce Manchester City's lead at the top of the Premier League to one point.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Thiago, Keita; Salah, Jota, Mane.

Subs: Kelleher, Konate, Milner, Gomez, Henderson, Jones, Tsimikas, Diaz, Origi.
